Cinnamon has been used as an ingredient throughout history, dating back as far as Ancient Egypt. It used to be rare and valuable, and was regarded as a gift fit for kings. These days, cinnamon is cheap and found in all sorts of foods and recipes. Cinnamon is delightfully exotic, sweet, yet spicy flavoured spice which comes from the outer bark of cinnamon tree. When dried, the bark rolls as “quills”. Cinnamon quills are used in diverse range of dishes from sweet to savoury in various cuisines around the world.
