Description

Turmeric is also known as Curcuma or Geelwortel in Dutch. Turmeric is well known for its ayurvedic, healing and antiseptic properties. Fresh Turmeric can be used in variety of ways. It can be eaten raw and is a key ingredient in curry powder. Turmeric has a sweet-nutty flavour with a touch of bitterness. You can cut the raw root into small pieces and add to salads. It is most commonly made into a powder and used as a base for curry spice mixes. Turmeric grows wild in the forests of South Asia (e.g., in India and Indonesia).
