Description
Cloves are one of the spices indigenous to Asian countries like Indonesia, India, Pakistan, and even areas of East Africa. It is native to the Maluku islands in Indonesia. They are a popular flavouring agent used in a variety of ways across the world, particularly in Asia and cloves form a culinary base in a number of different Asian cuisines.
Cloves are added to curries and other Indian dishes. Simply add about 2-3 cloves per person into the pan whilst cooking. For best results, crush the cloves before adding them. Typically, add a few whole cloves to the pot when cooking rice. They release their flavours into the rice and give it a nice spicy aroma.
Add a Clove or two in home-made Apple Pie to impart a delicious flavour to retain freshness and flavour.
Storage
Store cloves in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
