The taste of A&W Root Beer is unique in its kind. Unlike the name suggests, A&W Root Beer is not a beer and does not contain any alcohol. The subtle taste originates from the herb extracts of the female Sassafras plant, which grows in specific areas of North America and East Asia. Several other ingredients were added, like vanilla extracts, nutmeg and liquorice. Because of the ingredients people also call it herb lemonade.
